Monthly Sunday Stillness - Yin Yoga

Take some time out of your busy week to slow down and enjoy some ‘me time’ in beautiful rural surroundings. These lovely monthly Sunday Stillness sessions will give you the opportunity to slow down, move mindfully, rest and get ready for your week ahead.

We’ll start the session with some meditation before exploring a series of yin yoga poses. Yin yoga is a slow, quiet and contemplative form of yoga that works the deepest tissues of our body. We hold poses for several minutes, finding our edge and allowing our muscles and mind to release or ‘surrender’ into the pose.

At the end of the session we will spend time in deep relaxation or practice yoga nidra (yogic sleep). This is a guided meditation practice where we learn to rest between the states of wakefulness and sleep.

Finally, we’ll finish the session with a cup of tea and sweet treat!

Who will benefit from this class?

  • Anyone who is looking for a slower more meditative practice to complement other more intense forms of yoga or exercise

  • Those wanting to take a break from modern life, slow down and find peace and quiet

  • If you’re looking to improve your flexibility - yin yoga gently stresses the connective tissue of the body (the joints, ligaments, fascia and tendons) thereby keeping them healthy and strong

  • If you want to try a gentle yoga practice - yin yoga is suitable for beginners and beyond, you don’t need any previous yoga experience

  • Those wanting to reduce stress and calm the mind. We use breathing practices and meditation in yin yoga which has been shown to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system.
